The Gunnebo iQ for Locks app is designed to provide secure
access management for users, allowing seamless interaction with an IoT
device. This app allows users to easily initialise their locks, securely
unlock them and perform Over-the-Air (OTA) firmware updates of the locks
to ensure optimal system performance. Whether setting up a new lock or
managing access, the Gunnebo iQ for Locks app offers a simple
and secure solution tailored to your needs.
Getting Started
Download and Installation
iOS
Open the App Store.
Search for “Gunnebo iQ for Locks”.
Download and wait for installation to
complete.

Open the Google Play Store.
Search for “Gunnebo iQ for Locks”.
Install and wait for installation to complete.
Registration and Login
Invite an
Operative User to the Organisation
Contact your administrator to be invited to the Organisation.
Provide your valid email address.
Receive the invitation link via email.
Click the button ‘Join tenant’.

The user is redirected to the account registration page.
Click the button ‘Verify code’.
Receive verification code via email.
Enter the code.
Click the button ‘Continue’.
Enter First and Last Name.
Choose a password.
Click the button ‘Create’.
The Operative User is successfully invited to the Organisation.

Users can sign in using their email address and password.
The system verifies the credentials against stored user data.
Open the Gunnebo iQ for Locks app.
The Login page will be displayed.

Feature 1:
Initialisation of the device
Description: Initialisation of an IoT devices allows
the registration to be completed in the system securely, ensuring it is
correctly set up and configured. This feature is essential for
onboarding new hardware and software.
How to Use:
Admin user set up the ‘Initialise’ work order in the Gunnebo iQ
portal.
Open the ‘Gunnebo iQ for Locks’ app.
Login as the Operative User.
List of active work orders is shown.

Click ‘Arrow’ to navigate to the details of the work order.

The initialisation process is started. Follow the in-app
instructions to complete the process.

If the IoT device does not have the latest version of firmware, the
FW update will be performed before the initialisation is completed.
The initalisation is done successfully. The app shows the status of
the device as ‘Initialised’.

Feature 2: Opening of the
lock
Description: Opening the lock allows securely open
and close the lock mechanism. The following steps only show the basic
setup without additional lock features.
How to Use:
Admin user sets up ‘Access’ work order for the Operative User in the
Gunnebo iQ.
Open the Gunnebo iQ for Locks app.
Log in as Operative User.
Navigate to active work orders.
Find Access work order in the app.

order.
Unlock the Lock
The ‘Unlock’ button is shown.
App will search for device, stating “Searching”.
State of lock ‘Secured’ is shown in the app.

Feature 3: OTA Update
Description: OTA Update ensure that the lock is
running the most recent firmware version. Regular updates are
recommended for security and performance. The update is performed via
BLE, so no additional connectors are needed.
How to Use:
Admin user creates ‘Firmware Update’ work order in the Gunnebo iQ
portal.
Device is initialised in the system.
Open the Gunnebo iQ for Locks app.
Log in as the Operative User.
Click the ‘Arrow’ to navigate to the Firmware Update work
order.

Feature 4: Opening
the lock with a passcode
Description: Opening the device with passcode allows
to securely unlock the lock with configured passcode. The passcode is
tied to the Operative User account, and not to the IoT device. The same
passcode is used for all app-based passcodes for all locks that have the
functionality enabled. The user needs to set up a passcode in the app.
After the passcode has been created, it takes 30 minutes to become
active.
How to get a passcode:
Open the Gunnebo iQ for Locks app.
Login as Operative User.
Navigate to ‘My account’
Click the ‘Set passcode’ button.

How to re-new a passcode:
Open the Gunnebo iQ for Locks app.
Login as Operative User.
Navigate to ‘My account’.
Click the ‘Re-new passcode’ button.

Type in the same passcode in the ‘Confirm passcode’ field.

Feature 5: Duress Alert
Description: The Duress Alert feature allows for a
notification alert to be sent during high-risk situations. This feature
can be used to trigger the duress alarm through a predefined gesture in
the mobile app.

Admin user configures IoT devices with duress feature in the Gunnebo
iQ portal.
Open the Gunnebo iQ for Locks app.
Log in as an Operative User.
Click the ‘Arrow’ to navigate to Access work order.
Click the ‘Unlock’ button and hold for 2 seconds.
The duress alarm is triggered.
The duress recipient receives a phone call, email and SMS with an
automated message that the Operative User is under duress.
Admin user should resolve the event in the Gunnebo iQ portal.
Note: The Operative User can activate duress alarm not less than
every 2 minutes.
Note: Duress alert is not visible for the Operative User in the
mobile app.

in the Gunnebo iQ portal.
Open the Gunnebo iQ for Locks app.
Log in as an Operative User.
Navigate to the work orders.
Click the arrow to navigate to Access work order.
Click button the ‘Unlock’.
Enter your passcode but exchange the last digit to +/-1. E.g., if
your last digit is 9, exchange it to 0 or 8.
The lock is unlocked.
Duress alert is triggered.
Admin resolves duress alert event in the Gunnebo iQ portal.
Feature 6: Panic Button
Description: Panic button allows a notification to
be sent via the portal to the Admin or Owner users in Gunnebo iQ portal,
that Operative User is in danger, but in silent mode.
How to Use:
Open the Gunnebo iQ for Locks app.
Login as Operative User.
Navigate in menu to the ‘My account’ page.
Click the ‘Panic’ button and hold for 5 seconds.

Troubleshooting
Common Issues
Issue 1: When the device is disconnected from the
power supply, the time is reset, and the device may need to be deleted
from the portal by the Owner or Admin user. Then the device will need to
be initialised again.
Issue 2: Reload page if duress alert notification
is not shown on the Dashboard in the Gunnebo iQ portal.
Issue 3: Reopen the Gunnebo iQ for Locks app if the
spinner is loading on ‘Work orders’ page after login.
Issue 4: Reboot the mobile device or reopen the
mobile app if OTA update failed after confirming starting the
process.
